David Robinson, also known as “The Admiral” was a 7’1″ center from the Naval Academy. Drafted first overall in 1987, he served out a two-year commitment to the Navy before embarking on his NBA career. A great defender and incredible athlete, David won numerous individual awards and helped guide the Spurs to two NBA championships.
In addition to his performance on the basketball court, David has a strong faith in God (see last video below) and has combined his faith and God-given talents to give back to others and to encourage them to succeed in life. He founded the Carver Academy in San Antonio to help less fortunate children receive a quality education.

Personal Autograph Interactions
At the 2020 Hall of Fame Induction weekend Joshua and I saw David at the Awards Gala dinner on Friday night. Joshua and I each got two cards signed by him which included different Bible verse inscriptions. The 1991 NBA Hoops card has the inscription for Proverbs 1:7 which reads, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” The 2012-13 Panini Past and Present includes Matthew 6:33 which says, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
At the 2023 Hall of Fame Induction weekend we met David in the lobby of our hotel after midnight as he was most likely returning from Tony Parker and Gregg Popovich’s after party. Robinson signed my 2012-13 Panini Signatures card and included the biblical inscription Ephesians 6:10 which reads, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” It was a pleasure meeting David at both enshrinement weekends.
Thank you, David!
